JUANITA M. SMITH, age 75 of Brooklyn, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
She was born on April 14, 1937 in Brooklyn, MI to Francis and Mabel (Dermyer) Khon. She married Bruce L. Smith, Sr. on June 24, 1956 in Brooklyn, and he survives. She was a housewife all her life and she also worked at Hardees Restaurant, McDonalds Restaurant in Brooklyn. She then worked at the Brooklyn Coin Laundromat and Brooklyn Products where she worked out of her home. She was a member of the Clark Lake Odd Fellows Rebecca's. Juanita enjoyed reading word search puzzles, crocheting and watching the Food Network. She was an avid racing fan.
Surviving besides her husband Bruce are two daughters, Sharon (Doug) Shepard of Brooklyn, Theresa (Greg) Hamp of Florida, one son, Bruce L. (Bonita) Smith Jr. of Brooklyn, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Louis Khon, of Jackson, Norman (Kathy) Khon of Jackson, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, with Pastor Kevin Cherry officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday. Burial will take place in Roseland Memorial Gardens in Jackson.
